Marcelino Sanchez Alba was born in Barrantes (province of Pontevedra - Galicia - Spain).
He has won many local races in 1934-35-36 ahead of the Rodriguez brothers (Delio, Manolo, Emilio) and took part in the second edition (1936) of the Vuelta, where he had to abandon on the 4th stage due to an injure of the saddle.
After 1936 started the Spanish Civil War, Marcelino got injured by a shot in his leg, a promising cycling career ruined by war, like many others.
