Tour of Hainan 2008 – Top commissaires selected to run the show.
As the organizer determines to do everything right and perfect for the Tour of Hainan 2008, commencing 9 till 19 November 2008, they have sought some of the best and most experience commissaires for the tour.
Chief Commissaire will be Mr. Martijn Swinkels of the Netherlands who has been officiating in many world class events like World Championships 13 times, 2000 Sydney Olympic, 3 times Tour de France, 3 times Giro de Italia, 2 times Tour de Spain, Paris-Rubaix, World Cups and 2006 Doha Asian Games to name a few. His experience is second to none.
International Commissaire will be Mr. Philippe Marien of Belgium who has been involved with numerous cycling events in various capacities such as radio tour announcer, commissaire and president com for almost 10 years. His experience came from big events such as World Championships CX in Germany, the Netherlands and Italy, Tour of Japan, Vuelta a Espana, Giro di Lombardi, Deutschland Tour, Tour de Langkawi, Tour of Qinghai Lake and Giro d’Italia.
Another experienced person coming to Tour of Hainan 2008 will be Mr.Michael Robb of Ireland who has been involved with cycle racing for over 40 years both as a rider and official. After retiring as a racer he qualified as a Grade “A” International Commissaire in 1991. Since then he has officiated a number of World Championships and commissaired many big races in Africa, Europe and Asia. His recent events that he has officiated are Beijing Olympic Games, Elite World Championships, Tour of Denmark, Tour of Sweden, Tour de Langkawi, Tour Down Under, Tour of Britain and Tour Hainan for instance.
We certainly hope to see this year Tour of Hainan runs at a high standard and as smoothly as possible.
