After taking the leaders jersey on day one with Mark Cavendish winning the short prologue, High Road continued to have a successful run in Tour de Romandie finishing the tour with Marco Pinotti in third place in the General Classification and with Morris Possoni winning the sprint classification.
Race director Brian Holme was happy with the week and how it sets the team up for the Giro.
“For sure the guys showed they are ready. They did a lot of work here and are ready for the big work in the Giro,” he explained. “Marco and Morris have peaked perfectly and they are really motivated to try to get the stage win or a few days in pink.”
Pinotti used Saturday’s mountain stage to move up into third place overall and is happy with his form leading into next week.
“The race was a good race for me and for the team,” he said. “The level of competition in Romandie was pretty high and I improved race after race.”
“At a personal level I think I've never performed so well and I have to thanks the team staff and management that helped me to reach such a level of self confidence. Being part of team High road sharing a successful and winning mindset it's something special and I am proud of my team-mates.” He added. “This level right before the Giro makes me committed to do well in the Italian race.”
High Road’s young Italian climber Morris Possoni showed great form helping Marco in the mountains and managed to hold on to the Sprint Classification lead which he earned in his breakaway effort in stage one.
