Stage cancelled after 15km

The ninth stage of the Vuelta Ciclista a Costa Rica, scheduled for six laps of a 20km circuit through the center of the province of Cartago, was neutralized and ultimately cancelled after 15km of racing due to excessive traffic on the circuit.

Race Director Pedro Frías said, "The race commissioners and race organization, taking into account the traffic problems that were observed during the first lap of the circuit, the inability to vary the route and to guarantee the safety of the circuit and in accordance with article 2.2.009 (3) of the UCI rules, have declared this an uncontested stage."

The general classification remains unchanged from the previous stage.
